"Are you Ken's customer?"

"Yep" I reply.

He shakes my hand and says "Hi I'm Robin, Ken's busy, I'll take your deposit for him."

I go to get my reciept and he's like "Ok so has Ken told you the price on this car yet?"

I was like "negotioable".

He's responds "on this model, this color, w/navi we're gonna have to have you agree to pay msrp in order to take a deposit. Do you know what the price is?"

I respond again..."Negotiable" all the while w/a big smile on my face.

He says "I can't take a deposit on this veh unless you're willing to pay MSRP."

To which I reply "Look. I'm picking this car up in late July. I'm not paying MSRP on a 2007 model 1 month before the 2008 models come out...even if it is a white 4 door si w/navi. If I'm going to pay MSRP I'd rather wait 1 month and pay MSRP for a 2008 model, thanks."

He went to "go see the sales manager". Came back and told me that the sales manager wouldn't accept a deposit on this model w/out me agreeing to pay MSRP.

"What if someone comes in tomorrow who wants this same make/model, wants to put down a deposit and is willing to pay MSRP?" he says. "If you want to negotiate the price, we'll just call you when the car gets to the lot and if no one has put down a deposit then you can."

I see his logic, so I asked him. "Whats MSRP on this car?"

"I don't know." he replies.

I'm dumbfounded. "So you want me to agree to pay MSRP for this car, and you don't even know what it is?!" I ask.

My sales guy's desk is right next to where we're talking, so he walks over real quick. "What can we do to make you happy on this one?"

I said "First off, I'd like to know what MSRP is on this one and why I'm supposed to agree to pay MSRP if Robin can't even tell me what MSRP is on this car." "I'm supposed to agree to a # I havn't seen and he can't tell me?"

My sales guy said he would take care of it, he had to get back to his customer and walked away.

Robin says again. "If you want to negotiate the price, we'll just call you when the car gets to the lot and if no one has put down a deposit then you can."

"Alright" I said.

I stood up, and walked out. I wasn't too irritated, he had a point. I'm a reasonable guy. It did bother me though that he wanted me to agree to pay MSRP and he couldn't quote the MSRP price & he wasn't even my salesman.

So I get a call from the dealership at about 8pm tonight. I let it go to voicemail cause I'm with my fiance. It's my salesguy. He offers $800-1k over invoice, call and put the deposit over the phone so you don't have to drive to the dealership again.

So I shot him an e-mail. Asked him to get me a quote on the price for 800 over invoice, to break down all fee's and taxes and include an out the door price in the quote. Once we agree on the price, I'll call and put the deposit.

---ok---

1) Am I being unreasonable?

2) What out the door price should I be looking at for $800 over invoice?

3) Consider, my sales guy likes me cause I bought the first Si to hit the lot in 05 at MSRP...didn't even test drive the car, I knew I wanted it.

4) What's a reasonable trade value for an 06 si w/18k miles? It's real clean 1 minor door ding (I hate it!!!)

Thanks in advance for your help!

T.

No reason for you to have to agree to a Number untill you are happy with the car. We take 250.00 Fully Refundable Deposits on anything incoming and when it gets here it is priced.

SI's are usually MSRP or 500-800 under .......sometimes even better....but you cant agree to a price if it doesnt even exist yet.
