I never said a heavy shift knob makes me feel more secure. Those were your words and I quote: "A weighted shift knob just gives u a more secure feel when u shift."
So don't put words into my mouth. I am doing just fine with the stock knob which is actually weighted as well. It just assists you in a more positive shift feel rather than a flimsy, cheap light weight knob.
It has nothing to do with the location of the gears.
