Many folks have used an direct battery connect harness and have had no problems, and those that did have problems, the issue was usually found to be the workmanship of the installation.
For a 2006 or 2007 8th generation Civic PnP HID install, the main risk is installation workmanship. The wiring is more than capable of supporting a HID kit.
My PnP install has been going strong since last fall with no problems what so ever.
