More MPG antics:
Weekend trip to Mesquite, 202 miles round trip. Mostly flat with roughly 400' of elevation change from Vegas to Mesquite (down). 55mph, 6th gear, cruise for 95% of drive. No passing or hard acceleration. Tires at 36psi front, 33psi rear (over inflated). Fill-to-Mesquite-Fill in Vegas (about 10-12 miles of 'in town' driving' total, for trip), about 75F with ~10mph tail winds on outbound leg, 15mph headwinds on return leg. Had to slow down and deal with some big rigs coming back into Vegas, which probably lowered the MPG a tad. I'll try again next time I go to Mesquite for a 'clean' run.
40.7mpg. SG logged 41.4mpg (1.7% variance)
NHP actually got in behind me for a few miles (probably wondering why I was driving so slow...), but decided not to pull me over. If I'd actually stuck with my 52mph benchmark I think I would have been pulled over. lol.
Don't try this at home. The boredom factor has been rated 'severe' by the Surgeon General's office.
