[Haz Mat]

I was in Jersey today and am from NY. I got pulled over for doing 53 in a 25. I have a clean license, and was extremely polite to the officer and he was as well, but he gave me a ticket regardless. I did deserve it due to my speed, but I was in an unfamiliar area and the speed limit drops drastically at some point.

Anyway, the price of my ticket isn't listed on the back of it and so I guess that means I need to appear in court, but wasn't given a date. I'm going to call tomorrow to see what the story is. I have a few questions though: I'm going to plead not guilty, which to me feels ridiculous because I was so far over the speed limit, but I can't afford what could be 6 pts on my license because I work for FedEx and could possibly lose my job.

Also, this is the first time I've ever been pulled over for speeding, so do you think the judge will be lenient? I don't know what the courts are like in Newark. Do you think they'll knock it down to something else because I'm not from there? Do points transfer from getting pulled over in one state, when you're from another? I heard from a few people that they didn't.
