Theres not a flood of parts for this engine cause its not a good cheap modder. The days of the sleeper LX Civic I fear are over for the most part.

IMO Honda has made it very clear what there up to. Si is there for the waiting if you want to pony up and will haul ass and put them back in the tuner limelight at the will of those that purchase.

R18 Civics are there for the mass's to enjoy and drive the crap out of and get good mpg in the face of rising fuel cost.

The hybrid is a great car if your into hypermiling and want to cut the gas useage even farther, strech out and flip off Accord hybrid owners and out run Prius or Insight.

I honestly dont know why so many are waiting on what will be in the long run. So little in the way of mods for the r18 based Civics. There just not built for it.

O well ,,, steps off the soap box. Enjoying my r18 for what it is.

This is one of the best posts I have ever seen. It offers insight and has a very reasonable explanation behind the argument that the engine is not mod-friendly. Even the conjecture that the days of the sleeper LX are over, that's brilliant, but most-likely going to be absolutely true.

Good job psy, I agree with you on everything you said. It all makes perfect sense, and you're right, it is simply not that easy to modify with little funds. Honda wants the SI to be the car that everybody tunes, it was simply made that way, plus they made the public not really want to modify their LX and EX coupes because... well... they could just get an SI instead. Honda ends up making more money and gaining more "street credit" for the SI, exactly like they wanted. Good job psy and good job Honda for the forethought. I keep forgetting how smart Honda's business/marketing branch is, I usually focus on their awesome engineers. <3 Honda
