I have an Alpine Type R 10 with an Alpine MRP-M500 amp, my friend installed it who works at a local professional audio shop (funny enough it's called pro audio, haha) He actually didn't use a line out converter, he just cut an RCA and soldered it to the original subwoofer wiring, that way you CAN control the subwoofer separately from the stock head unit without a boost knob. I have the bass turned all the way down on the stock head unit and the Bass set to center. BTW that system POUNDS for one 10 inch sub i highly recommend it.
