Just part of the on-going experimentation:
Made another trip to Pahrump this weekend from Vegas. Filled before leaving. Reset trip. 112 miles round trip + 10 miles in town driving in Pahrump. 2500' elevation change at the beginning of the trip (Potosi / Sheep range is the name I believe) Filled upon return to Vegas.
For all but the city portion and 'mountain climb' set cruise to 55mph (using 6th gear), kept it as reasonable as possible on the climb.
37.5mpg per manual calculation (trip/gal). 38.1mpg per SG. (1.6% variance)
I'll be driving out to Mesquite in a few weekends and will try the same on that trip (no hills or major elevation changes). I expect over 40mpg as long as there are no traffic snarls on the I15 for the 15-20 miles through the center of Vegas. That could kill it.
(Yes, I drove other drivers nuts with my slow speeds)
