well sorry the world evolves around you. you know good and well owning a business there are loses all the time. they aren't going to care what happens to you if its going to cause them more pain. thats what i would do if i was a company owner as well. that phone line sot a few thousand a month. they have other lines you can call. so if i was a buisness owner, i would have done that too. any debt they can get rid of the better. if you were shutting down being and owner, im sure you want to make sure you aren't way under and paying it off forever. so on that note, tough break. your stil rolling in money from everything else and it will all even out so no worries. think of things this way.
your complaining about a little bit of money you may have lost due to a few cancellations. im sure the owner of comptech is complaining about alot of money he lost by a few peoples mistakes. so its the same thing for he both of you. atleast you know now to keep a close eye on employees right?
