A picture is worth a thousand words:

Per K&N instructions, the channel funnels the air into the intake heat shield. No removal necessary.

Extra step I did originally, Zip-tie the MAF cable so that it won't dangle freely using two (attached end to end) outdoor quality zip-ties. Holding up great to date, and easily replaced when filter needs to be serviced in the future.

This diagram really got me thinking. Here comes my off the wall creative/stupid idea of the night... Couldn't we take advantage of the way that stock plumbing to the resonator/cold air intake stays in tact so that the filter can attempt to draw cold air from it and actually force cold air from the resonator area towards the air filter? I was thinking that you could just install a 80 or 120mm computer fan inside the tubing to blow cold air in the direction of the K&N filter. It's obviously in a position where wiring it to the battery wouldn't be a problem, the only problem would be finding a way for it to turn off the fan when your car shuts off. You wouldn't think water would be a concern since the fan would be housed inside of the plastic piping. You'd have to think that a 120mm fan would really push some cold air towards your filter! Or am I just retarded? Here's what I'm talking about.
