my car was audi 1.8T (2001 and 2004)

to be more specific of problems i've had one of the pistons in the engine was bent out of shape and causing all sorts of rattle and noise... all the dealers i've visited told me it was the GIAC chip that was installed within the car that caused the ECU reading to be all funky that they couldn't even tell what was wrong with it... supposedly that voided the warranty and i had to pay $1000 just so they can open up the engine to look in to see what was up with it..
personally i thought it was the BOV (which wasn't recommended with 2001 1.8T) that caused the problems..
once a car has a problem, it seemed like everything else fell apart..
soon or later, my human mind started blaming everything that fell apart on the modification i did to the car..
right after the engine problems, oxygen sensor went, and had oil sludge build up..
soon the dashboard lights went out, windows didn't work, wheel bearings went, spark plug went, spark coils went,
even the newly installed stereo system caused leakage within the car... most of these could not have been related to the mods i've done to the car (CAI, chip, BOV Catback etc etc) but i just felt better blaming them...
heck, even the tire caught fire on the turnpike..!!!

now you get the idea why i chose the good ol' honda?

good to hear that intake etc etc won't do damage to the car....
even though i want to do all these things to the car all over again, and own a nice sounding nice looking car; i'm just afraid of spending any more extra needless $$$ on a car (spent $15,000+ just to fix those 2 audi)
