For now, here is a great link on how to properly wash a car. Includes tips for wheels and hard to reach body panels. Also includes tips of what NOT to do, and the tools NOT to use.

One tip I didn't really see in that link is how to rinse a wash mitt: RINSE FROM THE INSIDE WHERE YOUR HAND GOES!!! If you rinse from the outside, which most people do, you're just pushing the grit particles back into the mitt.
