It's just dark enough to look black from far, and light enough to reflect the daylight well enough to look 'safe'. I'm happy with the tint job, looks like a nice smoke.
I used Testor smoke paint, one can was enough to do two coats on both lights, and I have a lot left over. Two coats clear went on, may sand down later and apply a few more in a couple days. All in all looks like what I had planned.
Total Cost:
Testor tint (bought two cans just in case, only needed one) $7cdn each.
Clear Coat (one can) - $5cdn
Tape (one roll) - $2.50cdn
3 Kitchen trash bags - (500 for $2)
News Papers / Flyer inserts - Free
Total Cost : $14 - $15
Time : 3hrs in total (Masking, two coats tint, to coats Clear)
Effect - Priceless
Note: Between Tint coverage, I left 10mins. Between Clear coat, I left an Hour
