As a tip, you do not need to disconnect the hardline going to the slave cylinder. If you remove the two bolts, you can swing it out of the way without losing any fluid.
Regarding the eight bolts, I believe that is the right number securing the bellhousing to the block (one of these bolts goes through the starter bracket, into the block and into the transmission bellhousing). In addition, the front motormount will need to be removed as its three bolts has connecting points on the block and transmission.
Other than that, a transmission jack helps to make the removal and installation easier.
