Wait, you hard-wired it but let it in the middle of the wind sheild? The point of this 'mod' is to:
1. Get the radar detector out of the way so that cops can't see it and you don't have a monster cord that looks horrible hanging from the device.
2. The main reason I mounted mine up there is because it definately works better being up higher and isn't blocked by the rear window etc.
