wow...
First off id like to say im not trying to bash on this thread or the op, with that said this is mearly my opinion. Does your car overheat? im asuming no, the engineres designed the cooling system on our cars to reach a SPECIFIED temperature as fast as possible, this is a federal regulation by the EPA because when the engine is cold it puts out alot of hydrocarbons. Every car has its optimum running temp, usually around 212F. At this temperature the engine is most efficient, which means you are getting the best performance out of the engine. say this acctually did help cool your engine... the computer would look at the ect and say hmm were running cooler than we should and throws the car into open loop, longterm fuel trim says more fuel to richen up the mixture and short term fuel trim responds with more fuel, now you running rich to try to warm the engine back up. Now i highly doubt that hood spacers are actually doing anything to cool the underhood area so thats probably not happening but if it did work thats what this mod will have done... why would anyone want this to happen?
Secondly im assuming you put a hot air intake on your car (SRI). If this is the case i dont understand why anyone would use one of these... your filter is right next to your exhaust! Cooler air is denser, denser air is more boom, more boom is more HP. the stock intake was a cold air intake. For every 10 degree drop in air temp is 1% more HP. Ok i understand where your coming from you have to drive in the rain and you dont want to hydrolock your engine which is why you didnt get a cold air intake, and now you think your hood spacers are letting cooler air get to your hot air intake, which is probably true... but now its probably working like cowel induction and sucking in air when your moving... and when its raining its sucking in water too... so why not just have a cold air intake and not have your car look like it was in a wreck?
Okay, so you just talked me out of this mod. Valid points, with a little hostility to spice it up. Well said.
