I don't think it was hydro lock. If you drove it after you got water in the engine your connecting rod would bend and you would definently notice something wrong.
Actually I stand corrected. Thats only if you got a lot into the engine. A small amount could possible cause the things you were talking about it. I'd get a mechanic to look at it asap.
