Add me to the list of 2006 Si tranny problems. I had the 1st-2nd syncho go so I had them replace the infamous 3rd while it was apart. 120k miles, mostly highway but drive it like a b**ch when I exit. I would suggest transmission oil changes at least every 30k and start an emergency fund if you have a 2006 or 2007.
Old parts make for interesting quality discussions at work. Most of the engineers I work with think the motor is too much for the toy slush box. A manual transmission is the weak link? Nice. Last thing you would ever expect to go bad. Isn't this why we buy manual transmission cars? Abuse the heck out them and replace the clutch as needed.
It's not like we have drag radials and are on the track with perfect sticky ashphalt (well most of us).
Love the car besides. Still a nice addition to the stable. Kid looks forward to driving it.
