DIY: Simple rear speaker removal (DX/LX/EX/Hybrid)

Got this idea from changing out the map & dome lights. I assume this is probably old news but there is no DIY. If your like me and don't have a resource of DIY websites on hand you might end up doing things the hard way and taking off the entire rear deck. This is easier!

FYI - This is meant to ONLY civics with the pop off cover over rear speakers. No idea if this works for the Sub in the Si.

Tools needed:
- Flat head screwdriver
- 3/8 - 5/16 ratchet head
- wooden/rubber mallet

Step 1:
Remove the rear seat headrests. Just press in the tab on right side when facing them and pull:

Step 2:
Using the flathead screwdriver wedge it into the space between speaker cover and rear deck. Move it around until you find the right spot for leverage.

Step 3:
Work the screwdriver around the speaker cover forcing it up and open.

Step 4:
Speaker cover should pop off like so:

Step 5:
Using Ratchet - remove the one screw holding speaker in place. (Some people mention 3/8 head but the 5/16 fit for me)

Step 6:
Pull on the speaker and yank to the left (center of car) Speaker should slide out. Then just pop off the white tab cable and remove. You are now ready to replace speaker with aftermarket item. Or if your like me leave it empty because you have a sub in the back and want more sound into the car.

Step 7: Pop cover back in place with mallet. Repeat on opposite side as needed.
