Same thing happened to me... Check it out:

I took delivery of the car with less than 20 miles on it back in Jan. 2007. When I took delivery, they stripped the plastic off the hood and wheels.

Fast forward a few months: I had noticed that the imperfections in the paint on the hood was far from its normal wear so when I took it in to that same dealer to have the oil changed, I asked one of the shop's CSR's. He said it looked like someone had taken a razor blade to so I thought "that sucks" but what could I do about it then? I thought if someone did that, screw them but what are you gonna do?

Fast forward to last week: I got into an accident and had my car in the body shop for three weeks. One of the supervisors there told me the paint on the hood looked weird. I told him what I was told almost two years ago. He says, "nah, the paint's cracking because it has been re-coated from the factory." I said i took delivery of the car with less than 20 miles on it and that I was basically the only driver. He then draws my attention to masking tape in the pillars and explains that masking was only there because someone had repainted the hood. I said that was BS because *I thought* I bought the car BRAND new.

Fast forward to a couple days ago: So I'm back in the shop for an oil change and ask the techs there to look at it. I explained to them what I was told by a professional and they concurred. I then grab the owner of the dealership, who is a friend of the family, and he took the word of his shop techs. I asked if it was covered under warranty (or the extended warranty I so foolishly purchased) and he sternly said "no" even though I am not the one at fault.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I feel you, man.
