I've done it on a Jeep before...but this isn't a jeep lol

I have a lot of the old Honda filters. they are bigger and wider than the ones that are used today(ph3593A fram #) The new ones, which they have changed over for quite some time is skinnier and smaller. but they both fit in the screw hole. honda/hyundai have used them in their vehicles(that I know of) so Im guessing it is ok to use the bigger filter?

I'm not looking for better performance...I'm just looking NOT to spend money on the smaller filter when i have 30 of the bigger OEM honda filters sitting around
