Midas advertises that their pads are held to higher standards than most manufacturers, and that they're backed by a lifetime guarantee - that's why people buy pads from them. I just went because they have a location relatively close to where I work at and they were more convenient. They're also not cheap - only about $25 less than the Honda dealerships around me.

The problem is Midas, bro. It's not like I knowingly put my safety at risk just to save $25.

Yeah, as I said I didn't really get what they were saying. They had something swung up above the pads and on the inside of it there was a little black ring, and they told me they always stick a flathead screwdriver in between that ring and the housing around it to relieve the pressure or something.
