1.Call up a website that either offers online ringtone creation or has a separate software program you can download.
2.Download the install file and follow the onscreen installation instructions if you are using a separate ringtone-making program. Navigate through the website to the page that allows you to upload music if you are using an entirely online solution.
3.Click on the "Upload" button on the website or software program, then navigate through your computer's hard drive to the folder that contains the song you want to use. Double-click on the song to upload it.
4.Type in the starting point and ending point of the song you want to turn into a ringtone and click "OK." Specify where you want the file to be saved to, then enter a name for the file. Wait for the program to finish converting that portion of the song to a ringtone, then pull out the USB cable that came with your Sidekick 3 phone.
5.Plug the cable from the phone into the USB port on your computer. Wait for the menu to pop up, then choose the option to "open a folder to view files or folders." Double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop or "Start" menu. Navigate through your hard drive to the location where you saved your new ringtone. Click on the music file and drag it over to the first window you opened.
6.Remove the USB cable once the file has transferred, then turn your Sidekick 3 off and then back on. Press the phone's "Menu" key and choose the "Settings" option. Choose the "General" option, then "Incoming Ring Tone." Select the music file you transferred to set it as your ringtone.

Note: A good website to do this is Make Your Own Ringtones - Free Ringtone Maker
Also, for this website, you have to place markers where you want the ringtone to start and end by clicking in the gray music timeline.
