SCCA SSB Civic Si build thread
I am currently building an SCCA SSB class 07 Civic Si, and I thought I'd share the process as we go along...
The car is due to race on May 7th at Pacific Raceways so in "theory" the car should be done the week before (yikes!!).
So...a little about SCCA SSB (Showroom Stock B) class:
Showroom stock is literally "showroom stock" racing. The among the few modifications allowed are a cat-back exhaust, and some safety items. The Civic Si in particular is allowed the Honda HFP suspension package as a competetive adjustment, but thats about it. I will be racing the car pretty much as it came off the assembly line.
SSB is one of the most competetive classes in the SCCA (with the youngest driver field I might add) with many teams having some affiliation with the factory. The 2 current "big dogs" in the class are the Pontiac Solstice, and the Civic Si.
The National Championship race called the SCCA Runoffs will be held at Road America this year, where the Civic Si should have the advantage. (VTEC Rules!)
About the car:
2007 Honda Civic Si : 36K miles
This car will be the freshest Civic Si build in the country and should be a front runner for this year's Runoffs.
Modifications that need to be done before vehicle is race ready:
1)Remove all airbags-Done
2)Remove Seat belts-Done
3)Remove driver Seat-Done
4)Install Recaro SPG Pro-Hans Seat-Done
5)Install MOMO Hub and NRG Removal Hub-Done
6)Install MOMO Mod-78 Steering wheel-Done
7)Install K&N Air Filter for claimed "up to" 20hp gains-Done
8)Install Rollcage
9)Install Exhaust
10)Install Schroth Profi-II-6 Hans Harness
11)Install Window Net
12)Install Fire suppression system
13)Install Honda HFP suspension Kit
Also..on a side note...I do need some graphics or paintwork...so if anyone knows someone who might be able to "donate" their time I'd *highly* appreciate it. While I'd like to spend $2000 on a paint job or a nice vehicle wrap...thats money I could spend towards tires that I'll be blowing through at $900/set every 2 heat cycles.
