I painted my mud flaps a few weeks ago. Its kind of a pain in the ass to get the flaps off if you leave the tires on. What i did to paint them is just clean them up real good give it a light sand with 100 grit paper, using a higher grit would probably a better choice. Then i just sprayed 3 coats on and let it dry a few days and put them back on. I got the paint at Napa for about 30 bucks with a little plastic spray gun.

it is a pain trying to take them off with tires on. the front is okay but the rear is a pain. just jack up the car
i found that out after spending about a hour trying to take off the rear
