okay in this do it yourself im gonna teach you to smoke whatever part of the car u want... whether it be corner pieces, tail lights, or the whole head light.... okay these are the items you will need for any part of the car.....
1)
polycarbonate spray (usually for models and stuff at hobby shops) make sure you get the
smoke color or else you wont be able to see threw the light.
2)
masking tape usually having a couple different thinknesses is good just so u dont have to try and master a huge piece or spread a little piece to far
3)
plastic bag big ones... u dont want to take 5 hours taping off every part u dont want to spray so u can use plastic on large parts. :)
okay now getting too it:
1)
locate the piece u want to be smoked. Clean this piece really well with whatever u like to clean with.
2) it is a good idea to
remove this piece from the car so u dont spray the paint on accident.
3)
tape out what u dont want to be sprayed (and like i said u can use plastic for larger parts just make sure its taped down good) TAKE YOUR TIME ON THIS PART
you CAN smoke something without removing it, just make sure you tape really WELL and have plastic covering your car at any place you think the spray will get on the paint
4) get out your polycarbonate smoke spray (i used tamiya brand) shake it really really really really well... point nossile at the the piece that you want to be smoked, keeping it about 1-1.5 feet away
DONT GET TOO CLOSE spray an even coat on the piece.. dont spay too much... you may notice that it looks spackled and kinda blotchy but when it drys out it will be smooth.....
4(again) do 1 to 2 more coats depending on how dark your wanting it (if u messed up a little bit on the first coat this will fix it.
5) let dry... do not touch anything ... it will take about 10-20 mins to dry depending on how much u sprayed.
6) after dry remove all tape and plastic...see how it looks ... if you got some out side the lines of where u wanted a pencil eraser works well on plastic... if you got some spray on your paint... dont worry too much.... get a neutral cleaning product and rub alot but not hard (so you dont harm your paint) it will come off
note: the spray becomes a tint so if you dont like it it will peal off with a little effort :)
