the same thing happened to me last week. i ended up stripping the bolt by accident trying to get it in. my father who has all the taps and dyes (tools to rethread) fixed it for me. while fixing it he was suprised to find out that even though the bolt is metric it has standard threads (dont know why they would have done that?). if you try to attempt to fix it yourself keep that in mind...it took us a while to figure that part out.

All cars sold in the US have the same threads for the seat belt bolts regardless of country of manufacture etc, of course because standard is that standard here - it is a standard thread - Its a DOT regulation.
