Umm... I might be slightly confused here, but I'm assuming you're trying to separate the lock/door latch cables from the door handle/lock assembly to take the panel off the door? If so, your best bet is to separate the assembly from the door panel, and leave it attached to the cables. That way you can take the door panel off and leave the door handle/lock behind.
