I remember years ago before I realized the defroster activates the A/C pump I used to run the defrost all the time in my '94 Ford 4x4 p/up (didn't think it made any special difference what mode the air system was left in). Well, when my A/C pump prematurely seized to the tune of about a $600 repair (and that's doing it myself) I realized I wore the damn pump out by having it cycling on and off for who the he** knows how long! Not to mention the rotten mileage I was contributing to.
What better case for 'RTFM' eh?!
