Anyway, one small note...when you do these steps, the recirculation button flashes before the AC button flashes. I kept letting go once the recirc button flashed, which didn't work. I finally held it long enough for the AC button to flash and that finally did the trick.

I agree about that A/C light. They should have had a dual color LED on the A/C button; illuminating amber whenever you are in one of the defrost modes (to match the defrost button), and illuminating green when out of defrost mode and actually running cold air A/C.
