Just to clarify..... the A/C stays on when you switch from either defrost mode into the foot-only mode. The A/C will turn off, however, if you switch from either defrost mode directly to one of the face modes (face only or face/foot mode).

I like the secret work-around procedure you posted, I'm gonna try that out. And I assume you can go back to the factory setup by repeating the sequence again?
I wonder how many other hidden tricks are waiting to be discovered.
