Yes, when you use the two windshield functions, the AC turns on (the light won't show). When you switch to anything else from these, the AC still stays on (again, light won't show), but you can press AC twice to turn it off (in modes other than the windshield). There is a sequence on how to turn off the automatic AC selection in the windshield functions. I've done it. Now, when I go into the windshield functions, the AC lights, but I can turn it off easily. I'll find the sequence.
