From any defrost-to foot-only it'll still come on, and it'll stay off if one goes from any face-to-foot setting. Frankly, I'd like to know to if there is a way to set up the system that the A/C won't come on without me telling it to do so. Sometimes, you just don't need the A/C to come on if you want the windshield to get direct air. The only solution there is to make sure the system is OFF and then select whatever mode you'd like, but then you had better make sure the car is moving fast enough to channel air through the cowl area, and that FRESH air is selected.

Not a problem, just a quirky annoyance.
