As the (prior) owner of both a year one G35 Coupe, and an '06 Si (own neither now), I can tell you a few things:
- PRO: Si will feel WAY more nimble than the G. It will take a bit of getting used to how much more you can throw it around.
- CON: Si will feel anemic compared to the G at the botton end. You will get used to it, however, you have to keep the RPMs up quite a bit more to keep it in a reasonable power band.
- PRO: Way better MPG on the Si (may or may not matter). However, at agressive driving you might go to 20MPG on the Si vs. the 12 or 13 on the G.
- Pro/Con: The luxury aspect will depend on you and your personality and needs entirely. I certainly missed some of the features and amenities of the G vs. the Si, you may or may not. Ride quality, creature comforts, etc., are nice and you may miss them. Image may or may not also play into this realm as well.
-Insurance: Hit or miss depending on your insurer. Insurance on my '06 Si was way higher than either my G or my current IS350. Go figure. It will depend on your age, driving history, and the particularly used by your insurance company.
