well, just got done taking out the stock sub.... man those airbag covers are a pain in the ass to take out. ended up breaking part of the little white tab on the driver side air bag cover. rear deck was a pain in the ass 2! i found a couple of things out while doing this though......
i dont kno if its just the 09's that are like this, but my stock sub is different than the one pictured. its kinda smaller and has almost the same kinda brackets as the speakers do look wise.
also i dont kno if it's just a 09 thing but i dont really have a problem with the tension bar thing. they dont seem to be in the way of anything really. mayb they moved thiem for 09?
rattle not coming from the plastic and metal rear decks rubbing against eachother being as when i took out the rear deck it was was still rattling so it couldnt be from that, but grabbing the tension bars through the hole did help reduce it though.
one thing that pissed me off was that after i took everything out and all that **** i was looking at the plastic deck and realized the speaker grilles are removable and so i went through all that trouble of taking off the dreaded air bag covers y todo when i couldve just taken off the grilles.
Question..... which gives better sound, deeper bass, pros and cons.....?? having the truck enclosed (as in having no "vents" (such as where the old sub would be)) or to have some kind of vent (as in just leaving the stock sub removed so air can pass between the truck and cabin freely)?
would i use this removal of therear deck when/if i was to dynamat the rear deck?? has dynamating the rear deck helped ne-one? is it really neccessary or worth it to do it?
