i have a FBP 07' Si that i picked up 2 weeks ago this friday...you just have to know what not to do when it comes to swirls...
i know for myself (and maybe this is true for si civic) but im a professional detailer for Lexus and i clean my car every opportunity i get (im kinda obsessed with keeping my car cleaned)...i have the tendency to wash and then then spray wax my car and my previous car (mustang that was sonic blue pearl - really close to the FBP) i would get swirls, but at the same time i have everything i need to get rid of those swirls and i know how to use all of it!
i would suggest that the biggest thing you need to make sure you do is keep things clean (ie - your shamie, microfibers, wash mitt, etc....whatever your using or rubbing across your paint, you want to make sure you keep as clean as possible)...
i would also suggest although i know this can be expensive for poeple but if you can i would spray the car with a window cleaner first and then blast off and then wash! i do this at work and the window cleaner attaches to the dirt allowing it to come off of the car easier so that when its time to wash the car, there is less dirt to scratch the paint!
o just to show how bad i am with keeping my car clean right now...i have owned it for almost 2 weeks...i got it from honda on a rainy friday...saturaday i completly detailed it b/c honda sucks but i would have done it anyway and then tonight i basically detailed it again...2 coats of wax in a little over a week...haha...lets just say i LOVE MY FBP Si!
...read up on everything you can and just ask poeple questions...you'll be good to so when it comes time to be!
