I did correctly mount the a/c controls. There's really no logic to it. It goes on only one possible way. I tightened the screws and the buttons would get stuck when I pushed them in. If I loosened the screws it was fine but then the unit looked loose and would wiggle. No big deal, I sanded it down very lightly and it's perfect.
