when you take off the whole door you'll see the parts that need to be drilled.
I'll try and explain it in words.
surrounding the insert (part you wanna change) there are like plastic pegs that have been put through holes connected to the door panel and then they are fused together. You can drill through the fused part and just pop them apart. I used a dremel to shave off the part was melted above the hole and then popped them out.
I tried to recreate this fusion with hot glue.... horrible idea.
If I were you, or anyone who is going to try this again, follow someone elses advice (forgot who said it) but go to lowes and get the same screws that hold the rest of the insert in. Even though the plastic is melted, the screw will go right through.
