When a warranty issue is fixed, that particular dealership eats the cost of the parts and labor. Or they just wright it off. The cost for parts and labor comes off that dealerships bottom line. So I think that when they try and feed you a line of crap they are trying to save themselves money. If you go to a higher volume dealer then maybe they won't be so inclined to lie.

this is true, i went to this small little Honda dealership to get my 3rd gear fixed and they said they couldn't replicate the problem, i got to a rather big dealer, and sure enough they didn't even test it they just took the car right away, and even changed my clutch to. and gave me a rental at no cost to me at all
