2006 Acura TSX Front Calipers / Rotors / Pads on a 2006 Civic Si Knuckle

2006 Acura TSX Front Calipers / Rotors / Pads on a 2006 Civic Si Knuckle

Brake Comparasin

Rotors:
Si Rotor 25mm thick (300mm diameter)
TSX rotor 28mm thick (300mm diamter) - 11% thicker
Noticably more rotor mass, and bigger cooling passages
Si Rotor Weighs 14.6# TSX rotor Weighs 15.2 #
Not alot more rotational inertia to overcome

Pads:
Si Pad (bottom)vs TSX Pad (Top)

Si Pad is 4.75cm x 10.03cm friction size, 47.6 cm2 surface area

TSX Pad is 5.1cm x 12.5cm friction area, 63.8 cm2 surface area - 26% larger

Caliper
Si Caliper(left) VS TSX caliper (Right)
Hard to see here .... but the TSX Caliper is so much more massive
Si Caliper weighs 6.8# + 2.9# for bracket = 9.7# total
TSX Caliper weighs 8.6# + 4# for the bracket = 12.6 # total

Bottom line WAY more thermal mass in the rotors, calipers, and pads to dissapate heat

Si Piston OD - 5.3 cm - Surface area 47.2 cm2 - piston surface area to pad surface area ratio 2.13:1
TSX Piston OD - 5.6 cm - Surface area 63.75 cm2 - Piston surface area to pas surface area ratio 2.6:1
