UPS and Fedex do state on their websites that there is no brokerage involved if the parts are air shipped and i always get surprised when ppl say they dont know about this. all you pay in the end is GST equivalent give or take.
KC...not everytime the express fee is a little different than ground however. in your case....it was low so you were lucky. in other instances, the extra shipping charge can pretty much eat any potential savings in brokerage fees.
UPS has a lawsuit on their a$$ cuz of the excessive fee that they charge here in canada as well...dont know whats the status of that is at the moment.
personally...i try to avoid them and look for USPS. another way of reducing these charges is to ask the vendor to declare a lower amount on the customs invoice but that can be good or bad depending who you buy from. some vendors dont agree to this and will only declare the true amount and also it may matter from an insurance and warranty standpoint.
