I used parallel taps in the yellow and white wires...nothing was cut as I wanted the key to still work as a backup. I accessed them behind the steering column cover.

what gauge are those wires for the plug that you have connected to the button. I found a very similar connector and the wires are like 22-20 gauge Im thinking they may be too small for the current draw.

They are very small wires...dont know what guage. If you know what a PC fan wire is like they are about the same. You'll be using a relay which seperates the high current loads from the switch. Very little current will go through the switch.

Any way to make the ignition lock not go to the "start" position, like an S2K? Where the key just stops at the "On" position and no more?
|
no you cant make it physically lock at "on"...you would have to change out key mechanisim. As far as cutting or not it comes down to personal prefrence and also how much you trust your wiring. If you go all out S2k style and cut the wire and your wiring fails, your stranded. I personally left it connected.

Question for the OP. Does your start button dims and brightens with the rest of the dash control lights? I noticed mine doesn't do that it just stays the same.
I only did the Start Button but not the JDM hazard button. And I noticed the OEM hazard button dims and brightens just like the rest of them.

pt 1. The switch will dim only depending on what you hook the bac wires up to. As seen in the diagram I hooked my ignition switch bac to the ACC feed. That way the start button lights up and stays on as soon as you turn the key on.
you could tap into the mph/km buttons for a dimming bac feed. but then the button wouldn't light up when you turn the key...only when the lights were on. I think my way is more badass..
pt 2 the hazzard switch is hooked up to the same stock wiring as the factory switch so of course it dims.
