so i decided to changed it up and bought a beltronics hardwire kit from ebay seller (safe-n-sound1) with a mute button and an optional red l.e.d. ($18 total). The quality on this aftermarket kit is grade A and works well my RX65 radar. I also bought a new panel assy since i butchered the previous one and heres what it looks like.
