I think that it does drop below 100rpm for a very split second when you turn on the AC because of the Momentary draw in extra load. ob course we have to remember that this isnt to say that it is going to spin 100 less cyles in 1 minutes, hence Rate Per Minute as alot of us will think about it in that way. So lets say your car idles at 600 rpm that would mean the car would make 10 cycles every second. when you turn on the A/C then perhaps that draw in extra load will cause it to "skip" a cycle because of the extra load Thus you get 9 cycles in that second instead so that is why it would show up as 540 RPM for that brief second
