I called Enkei America, the manufacturer of the OEM silver alloy Honda wheels used on my Civic ('08 EX Coupe). This is NOT the after-market division of Enkei, it is the OEM division.
After a few conversations, and transferred calls, I made it to the person who could talk about the paint that Enkei uses on the Honda wheels.
The paint code for the metallic silver is "NH95MZ." With this code, you can go to any auto-paint store (such as a PPG or DuPont distributor) and have the paint mixed. PPG gives formulas for as small a quantity as a half pint. Enkei advises that they have used this same silver paint on the majority of the OEM Honda wheels they have manufactured for at least the past 10 years.
The PPG formula for NH95MZ contains "clear", a "course aluminum" flake, and a "medium aluminum" flake.
Because it is a metallic, it must be sprayed (such as an airbrush) to get a matching metallic look. After it dries (overnight), it needs to be clear-coated.
While other silvers may provide a satisfactory match, it is preferable to match the original.
