Yeah, to be honest, I didn't do enough research on version 1... I thought that the reflector part couldn't be removed, so I worked around it. The front mount actually affects the light output a bit too. Not enough to worry about, but just enough to bug the crap out of me

There are a lot of tools required, but luckily the majority of them are all basic shop tools. In the DIY, there is a full parts/materials list... a few pages in I think.
