I have an 06 SI and at 50,000 miles I replaced my front brake pads with Akebono ProACT pads. $70 at tirerack. Mine is a daily driver and I wanted stock or better performance with no dust or noise.

I installed them myself and flushed the braking system. I have ~2000 miles on them now, and they are great. No noise, no dust, good linear pedal effort, haven't faded yet (and that includes a few single-high speed stops). If you can get an oil change yourself, and a tire rotation, you can easily do front brake pads and flush the system.

P.s. Others will recommend OEM, which are fine, or Hawks, which I wouldn't recommend unless you are tracking or doing serious road driving.
