I would definitely wait for version 2... there are going to be some significant changes this time around. The plan is to do adaptive headlights, i.e. the ones that turn when you turn the wheel.
The mechanics are the part that really hasn't been sorted out yet. As soon as I get some parts shipped, I should have a "breadboard" version of the electronics... basically a potentiometer or rotary encoder on the steering wheel, fed into an analog-to-digital converter, into a BASIC Stamp module for PWM control, and out to identical servomotors controlling the projectors.
When I make the DIY, I'll write an "adaptive" version and a "non-adaptive" version.
When I get the electronics figured out, I will definitely be posting an update!
