The problem though is finding matching paint for our cars. I have an '08 Si with the slightly darker silver from the 06-07 models, and I've tried a good number of different shades from the auto parts stores, Honda does not sell the touch-up paints for these wheels at the dealer. Maybe there is another way to order it.
But the OP is correct about the extensive cleaning, use of thinner, and sanding involved to get it just right. If only there was a paint match. I was able to ghetto job up a "mix" using a small amount of nhbp black touch-up paint I have for my body paint along with some dark metallic silver, but you've really got to have spray paint to make it look right for the bigger rashes. Somehow what I came up with blends in well though I just have it on small outer rim scrapes, but it took a lot of experimenting. Perhaps on the '06 Si's or the other Civic models there is a better match, as a more standard silver might work.
