If you are not working out on a regular basis then you should not take any supplements at all because all you will gain is water weight and fat. I'm thinking you don't gain muscles easily because you are not consistent with your workout. Nothing will help speed up the process if you do not take the time to exercise.
I've heard bad things to just about any supplement because it just bulks you up fast... once you stop working out, all that muscle mass will turn to fat.
You can try Whey Protein if you really want. It's not as dramatic as some other stuff.
